PDP: ‘Alamieyeseigha Can Still Register

Team leader of Bayelsa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) membership revalidation exercise, Chief Adewale Omojuwa, has said the party has taken care of the complaints of the state Deputy Governor, Chief Jonathan Goodluck, over the irregularities in the memberhip registration exercise.

He said the state Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who is standing trial in London still has chances of revalidating his membership card, stating that the exercise is a continuous one, but ruled out any registration by proxy.

Omojuwa told newsmen in Port Harcourt yesterday that 'When we arrived the state, the deputy governor travelled. They said he went to Abeokuta and we met with the state executive committee of the party and they nominated three other members of the committee to make the membership of the committee to be enlarged.

'What I am saying is that there were adequate consultations with the executives of the party and every thing we did was in line with the directives of PDP national secretariat. Definitely, we have taken care of their complaints and as I talk to you now, all their complaints including the one by the deputy governor," he said.

On the inadequacy of the membership cards, he accused members of the party in the state of tearing the cards issued to them, but said each ward was given 400 cards for the exercise.

Omojuwa said more cards would be issued to those who did not have the chance of revalidating their membership before the local government congresses expected to commence on October 15.

He commended the state chapter of the party for maturity and discipline, and expressed appreciation to the teeming members and supporters of the party in the state for their loyalty, maturity and discipline demonstrated during the conduct of ward congresses throughout the entire state.
