The harmony now existing between companies operating in Choba Community and their host cannot be better expressed then in the words of inside sources of the interacting parties.
According to the Systems Manager of Wilbros (Nig.) Limited, Chief Lloyd 'Big Boy' Biggers, the Nigerian society has been made to see that the community and the multi- national companies operating within it are good neighbours. In his words: "We've shown Nigeria that Choba Community and Companies within it have gone leaps and bounds over the past five or six years in a very positive manner. We've contributed a lot and we expect to continue to do so. Our intentions for the community are good and would remain. Generally we're good neighbours and this is what it is all about."
He noted, however, that at times the good intentions of the companies are misconstrued in the press thereby leading to wrong impressions being created.
A Librarian with the University of Port Harcourt, Mr. Jude Ogbaonna Njoku, who is reported to have dwelt in the community for twenty-seven years now, publicly laid claim to having spent all the years having excellent rapport with his hosts, for which reason he advises the community to continue in the same spirit as they are doing to promote good neighbourliness and conducive business atmosphere.
On the other hand, the youth Chairman of the community, Mr. Ndubuisi Igwe, chatting with newsmen, described Choba youths as law abiding but ever ready to get up and ask for their right. He expressed hope that the era of insecurity in the community was far gone with history, and pointed out that companies operating in the community are an integral part of the community, as free but responsible as anyone else. He said: "Companies amongst us are now more understanding, employing our youths and providing contracts", and thanked them for their moral and financial support to the community.
