Despite all good efforts of Rivers State government to settle and put an end to the cultist groups operating in the state in recent past, the Icelanders have resurface in Ogbunabali Orogbum area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, promising terror to residents in the local government area.

In a chat with our reporter in Port Harcourt, the youth president of Orogbum, Mr. Alex Bright Onunwa Ogbonda, decried the deft ears the youths are paying to the good offer of employment, pay package, monitoring reward, travelling opportunity by Governor Peter Odili, and called on them to turn a new leaf or face the wrath of the law.

According to him, "Orogbum has been peaceful since my tenure. Only recently, a group of cultist called Icelanders based at Orogbum and Ogbunabali emerged terrorizing the area. Every efforts to call them to order proved abortive."
The youth president disclosed that the matter has been reported to Chief Aguma, the representative of the people at Federal House of Representatives, saying that they have also petitioned the police.

Mr. Ogbonda told our reporter that the group started re-grouping by November last year and involved in collecting money, handsets, bags and raping of women at gun point. He made it clear that they would soon be exposed but their identities were withheld for security reasons now.

The youth president, whose tenure will expire after two years, said that his administration had brought peace to the community and stressed that he would achieve more within his remaining six months.

We have created employment for youths both in senior and junior staff in banking and communication industries. MTN, first Aluminum, intercellular have contributed in one way or the other to the development of the community and employment opportunities." He urged the banking industry to help and assist the youths in the community.

He reiterated that before the expiration of his tenure, cultism would be eradicated; youth secretariat would be fully computerized while the community would also be launched to maintain peace in the area.

Mr. Ogbonda extolled the achievements of the state governor, Dr. Peter Odili especially in the area of peace and control of cults related activities and called for the appointment of Rebisi indigenes as members of the state cabinet.
