The hottest ticket in Nigeria's party calendar takes place in Lagos on Friday 14 October 2005 when MTV base LIVE! Nigeria - the pan-African party tour from music channel MTV base & Nokia - hits town! The Nigerian leg of the pan-African tour, which has already hit the best clubs and spots in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, will feature one of the UK's best DJs hot from the London club scene, DJ Big Ted and several of Nigeria's best including DJ Fresh Waves, DJ Jimmy Jatt and DJ Humility. This exclusive party-night will also feature guest performances by Pras Michel, US hip-hop star and member of the 90s superstar group THE FUGEES, and the Fugees' own DJ, DJ Leon, alongside Nigerian chart-authorities Asa, Jazzman and P-Square. Sponsored by Nokia, MTV base LIVE! Nigeria promises to be the hottest must-be-seen-at party this time of year in Lagos!

Taking place at trendy nightclub The Vault, Victoria Island, Lagos, MTV base LIVE! is MTV base's exclusive, pan-African party tour and TV show which brings together star-studded international DJs and artists alongside Nigeria's wildest DJs, chart-topping and exciting new artists, hand-picked by the MTV base talent scouts. Combined together, they create a fantastic one-off party event with MTV base's signature music flair and outrageous party atmosphere.

Tickets for MTV base LIVE! Lagos go on sale, priced 3,500 Naira, at The Vault, 21A, Idowu Martins Street, Victoria Island from Friday, 30 September. Advance tickets can also be requested by e-mail at: mtvbaselive@mtvne.com.

Pras Michel is one third of the acclaimed nineties super group, the Fugees, the seminal 90s rap group formed with Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean. 'Win, Lose or Draw' is the title of Pras' latest solo project, following a turbulent career which has withstood the earth-shattering success of the Fugees, followed by dissolution of the group and then global solo acclaim with Ghetto Supastar. High profile collaborations with Wyclef Jean, Sean Paul and Spragga Benz feature on ‘Win, Lose or Draw', which sees Pras re-visiting the thoughtful sociopolitical territory of his Fugees' days.
Multi-talented DJ, radio and TV presenter DJ Big Ted is currently one of the UK's hottest DJs, with a weekly residency at London's hip-hop club, Trap. Whether touring with MOBO-award winning artist Black Twang, DJ-ing with on-air partner Shortee Blitz or shuffling the decks at some of Europe's hottest club nights and concerts, Big Ted's infectious passion for music and his love for hip-hop never fail to come through.

Highlights from the MTV base LIVE! party in Nigeria will be recorded and televised across Africa on MTV base (DStv channel 88), Wednesday 2 November 2005, and repeated on Wednesday 10 November. MTV base camera crews at the party will also film vox pops and shout outs with party guests so everyone there will get a chance to see themselves on MTV base!

Commented Alex Okosi, Vice President and General Manager, MTV Networks Africa, 'We're very excited to be bringing MTV base LIVE! to Nigeria, with a view to creating a fantastic party event that people will be talking about for months to come. MTV base LIVE! embodies all the things you expect in a great party - great music, hit DJs, hot musicians, top celebrities and cool party people. It's a night that anyone who loves a good party can't afford to miss!'

Commented Mika Niemi, sales director for Nokia South Africa, 'Music is an intrinsic part of African culture and has always been a form of communication that transcends language and connects people on several levels. This is the fifth MTV base LIVE! party and it is definitely the place to be for anyone passionate about music in Africa.'

All the action from the MTV base LIVE! party including performances and backstage excitement will be packaged together to broadcast on the MTV base LIVE! TV show, which includes behind-the-scenes footage of the emerging music, fashion, and entertainment culture that make Lagos the place to be! Also as part of the MTV base camera crew tour of Africa, Lagos' cool party crowd will have the opportunity to be featured on What's Up Africa?, a new programme on MTV base , which gives people across Africa a chance to give shout-outs to their friends and family while throwing to their favourite music video.
