Joy Henry stole money from King's College NHS Trust (UK) over a period of four years. She and her boyfriend shared the proceeds. Her boyfriend, Joseph Oduguwa, is missing - he is believed to be in Nigeria. This is one of the largest cases of fraud in the UK against one NHS trust.
Joy Henry is expected to face a stiff prison sentence. She admitted to one count of conspiracy. At Southward Crown Court, Judge Christopher Elwen said she carried out a ‘flagrant breach of trust.'
Joy Henry was in charge of an agency (in-house) that staff wanting overtime work often used. She added fictitious names to the list of overtime workers and took the proceeds (1999-2003).
Joy will be held in custody while awaiting sentencing.
Her defense lawyer said Joy is ‘Full or remorse.'
