A STUDENT died of massive injuries after he plummeted from the window of a flat in a mystery fall.
Patrick Ejakita, 26, fractured his skull and was killed instantly when he fell from an apartment in Castlemead, Camberwell.
A neighbour flagged down a passing police car but there was nothing officers could do for Mr Ejakita.
Southwark Coroner's Court heard Mr Ejakita, from Lagos, in Nigeria, had seemed fine while chatting to his sister hours before his death as they had a meal together.
Katherine Ejakita said her brother, whose lived in Cherry
Close on the Tulse Hill Estate, had some worries about his financial situation but had no history of mental or health problems.
A post-mortem revealed Mr Ejakita had suffered a compound fracture of the skull with severe lung, rib and heart damage from the fall on January 13.
There were no witnesses to explain what happened in the moments before he fell from the window.
Deputy coroner Dr Adele Williams said the absence of full information meant she could not record a verdict of suicide.
She said it was possible but unknown if the student might have been "larking about" before his death.
Recording an open verdict on Tuesday, she said: "It is very unsatisfactory when you have a terrible and traumatic event happen to a young, fit person and there is very little to explain why this happened or what was in his mind or what prompted this event.
"He was a fit and healthy young man. He had no mental health problems. He was not noticeably distressed or of low mood.
"He showed no indication to harm himself.
"We do not know what happened and in the circumstances it is not appropriate to try to fill in the gaps, which would be speculation."
