A Nigerian was arrested on Sunday from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here for drug trafficking and heroin worth Rs. 50 million ($1.12 mn) seized from him.
NEW DELHI: A Nigerian was arrested on Sunday from the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport here for drug trafficking and heroin worth Rs. 50 million ($1.12 mn) seized from him.
The 25-year-old arrived here from Kabul on Saturday night and was about to take an Indian Airlines flight to Beirut when contraband was recovered from him.
With his arrest, the police expect to unearth a big racket of drug peddlers.
There has been a recent rise in trafficking of pleasure drugs - heroin, cocaine, and ecstasy - by Nigerian nationals.
More than 10 Nigerians have been arrested on charges of peddling drugs in the national capital this year, including three with contraband drugs worth Rs.180 million ($4 million) on Sep 14 at the airport here
