LAGOS - THE founder and senior pastor of the largest church in Western Europe, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Tuesday identified eight modern devils militating against the giant strides contemporary world had made through technological development.

He also averred that Nigeria would soon overcome the current economic downturn and the world would be surprised when she emerges as the Japan of Africa, stressing that all Nigerians in diaspora would then struggle to return to assist in the development of the country.

According to the senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre in London, KICC, the modern devils include sexuality, poverty, black underdevelopment, global suffering, disunity, human rights issues and injustice, leadership crisis and the world of sports, music and filming.

Speaking as the guest lecturer at the second Adeleke Adejobi Foundation annual lecture in Lagos, on a topic titled; "Christianity within a contemporary world system: What prospect?" Ashimolowo, however, maintained that Christianity provide a viable prospect for the eradication of the devils.

The occasion which took place at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, was chaired by Dr. Bode Olajumoke and was attended by eminent Nigerians including the widow of late Dr. Adeleke Adejobi, Rev. Mother Superior Olive Adejobi, veteran journalist, Chief Areoye Oyebola, NTA ace presenter, Mrs. Ruth Benamaisia-Opia among others.

Ashimolowo said there are religions in the contemporary world today but it is only Christianity that had its founder predicted before He came, adding that the message of Christianity is timeless, relevant, life-changing, has answers to questions that have psychological and sociological as well as financial challenges.

He said the Foundation had initiated the annual lecture and the Adeleke Adejobi annual Essay Competition which is meant to stimulate theological discourse on matters affecting contemporary society.
