Irate mob has lynched a suspected serial killer and torched the palace of the District Head of Bakori, Katsina State, Alhaji Sule Idris Nadabo, and his official jeep. Saturday Sun learnt that some people from the town burnt down part of the palace and the Honda jeep in his garage to press home their demand for the release by the traditional ruler of a 30-year-old suspected ritualist, Lawali Hassan, who was taking refuge in the palace.
Dependable sources revealed that the suspect was thrown out of the District Head's house to the angry crowd after part of the palace and the vehicle were already aflame.
Witnesses to the incident said the suspect was quickly beaten to death before his corpse was flung into the burning garage.
It was further learnt that about three other innocent women and some children were killed by the ritual killer on the loose in Bakori area since about a forthnight ago.
Lawali Hassan allegedly ran out of luck when he dragged an aged woman into a farm in the outskirts of the town and tried to take her life. The victim was said to have raised alarm and those who heard her distress call responded immediately.
They held Lawali and dragged him to the office of the District Head of the area. An eyewitness told the Saturday Sun that the District Head however failed to report the suspect to the police immediately, until an angry mob stormed his palace demanding the head of the ritualist.
It was also learnt that the middle aged man admitted on interrogation that he participated in the rampant cases of attack and ritual murder in the area recently.
