The Management of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State has sanctioned 149 students of the institution over examination malpractice, cultism and other related offences. Twenty-two of the 149 students were expelled for examination misconduct, while 26 who are members of various outlawed cults were expelled for cultism.

A statement signed by the Public Relations/Liaison Officer of the Institution, Mr. Kanu Anene, said 66 students who failed to appear before the Panel were suspended indefinitely. It further said that 12 students had their results cancelled, where 23 were asked to repeat a year.

According to Kanu, the sanctions were part of the Rector, Prof. Uba Nwuba-led Academic Board and Management's vow to sanitize the institution.
He maintained that the school authority was not ready to loose the glory it won through hard work, hence would not leave any stone unturned in its war against cultism, examination misconduct and other vices.

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Institution has held its first council meeting, with the chairman, Dr. Okey Odunze pledging that the council would work assiduously to ensure human upliftment and infrastructural development of the institution.
Odunze, who with his members was taken on a familiarization tour of the institution, commended the Rector and his management team for the level of human infrastructural development in the school.
