The hunt by the police for the armed robbers who attempted to rob the All States Trust Bank has yielded more fruits.

According to information reaching our news desk from the police, men of the force drawn from the Elele Division have impounded two G.3 rifles, one AK 47 rifle, one pump action gun, 51 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, 45 rounds of 5.6 ammunition, four magazines and vehicle number with Lagos registration number.

The police say the items were recovered at a bushy area at Omerelu were the fleeing robbers left them in a hurry.

Before the police stumbled on the items, it had through the help of local vigilante groups arrested a man with a bullet wound who confessed during interrogation to be part of the gang.

Although the brown Mercedes Benz car with which the robbers struck had carried a Lagos registration number JB 955KJA, the police now have strong reasons with the discovery of the plate number in the bush to believe what was affixed on the car was fake.

Apparently, the actual registration number of the car is Lagos GW 342 KJA.
In the gun battle that ensued between the police and the robbers, two robbers were killed.

But the police has equally revealed that it lost three men in the fighting to curb crime.
