Know fewer than fifteen armed robbers with sophisticated weapons on Tuesday raided Ikot Ubah and Edem Urua, all in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and made away with properties word over five million Naira.
Through out the raid, according to reports, the people were held hostage as the robbers systematically operated.
After the operation the robbers withdrew, leaving several frightened people in pain and grief.
It was also gathered that the same armed robbers had operated in a part of the community many months ago, and escaped successfully.
A reliable source told our correspondent that these hoodlums started their operation at about 1.00am, entering various housing and making away with valuable goods and raw cash.
As at press time, the paramount ruler of Ibiono Ibom His Royal highness Edidem Ime Inyang lamented over the situation.
He said that everything would be done to secure life and property of the entire community.
He also said the police had been briefed on the ugly situation and expressed confidence security would be adequately beefed up.
He called on the youth to set up vigilante groups in the area.
In the same vein, the chairman of the village council Mr. Johnson Udo Ekong expressed regret over the incident.
