Governor Achike Udenwa's absence at the chieftaincy conferment ceremony of the Executive Chairman of Aba South L.G.A, Chief Godwin Chinedu Duru as Eze Udo II of Amucha which took place at the home town of the celebrant Amucha, in Njaba L.G.A of Imo State has continued to annoy Governor Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia State.

According to a reliable source, the Imo State Governor on whose territory the event took place was duly invited by the celebrant who serves in Abia State as Executive Chairman and the Abia State Governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu.

And Udenwa kept reassuring both that he was going to grace the ocassion untill the eleventh hour when it dawned on them that the host governor was no longer coming but was to send his Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport ,Chief Sonnie Hart Ibeh to represent him.

The source also said that Governor Kalu and his team saw Udenwa's absence as a political maneuver made in order to avoid Governor Kalu who would no doubt seize the opportunity to tell the world he is a better candidate when compared to Udenwa.

Apart from sending Chief Sonnie Hart Ibeh, the other signal which made Governor Kalu and his group suspect Governor Udenwa's political move according to the source, was when the traditional rulers in the area started behaving funny insisting that Orji Kalu should pay visit to them if he must continue with the ceremony and even went as far as withdrawing canopies and chairs already given out for the function. An act,the source believed, was instigated by Governor Udenwa.

One political observer believes that since the two Governors started nursing the ambition of becoming president in 2007,such situation has become a common place. It would be recalled that during the last Igbo Day celebration hosted by Imo State, Governor Kalu was conspicuously absent. His SSG, Professor Chibuzor Ogbuagu came to represent him.
