Detectives are currently probing the mysterious death of a Filipino who slumped dead while aboard a ship in Lagos last Friday.

Daily Independent learnt that the man who was aboard M.V Hypersion, fell down and sustained a deep cut on his head while the ship was out on the high sea.

It was learnt that the Filipino later gave up the ghost at a private hospital he was rushed to for treatment.

However, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olubode Ojajuni, who confirmed the incident, said the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at a public mortuary in Lagos for postmortem examination.

Similarly, a couple has been declared wanted for beating an elderly woman to death.

The suspects, Eric Ogiale and his wife Ruth, were alleged to have beaten to death a co-tenant, who was yet to be identified over a yet-to-be-ascertained matter last Friday.

An account of the gory incident had it that the deceased was beaten to a state of comma by the couple at their residence at No. 1, Eric Moore Street, Wemaboard Estate, Ikeja, Lagos, before she later died.

Ojajuni, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects left their home immediately they committed the crime.

The police spokesman enjoined anybody with useful information regarding the whereabouts of the couple to contact the nearest police station.
