MANAGEMENT of the College of Education, Agbor in Delta State has sent a total of 164 students of the College packing over their alleged involvement in various forms of examination malpractice during the first semester examination of 2004/2005 academic year.
Asaba - MANAGEMENT of the College of Education, Agbor in Delta State has sent a total of 164 students of the College packing over their alleged involvement in various forms of examination malpractice during the first semester examination of 2004/2005 academic year.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the College, Mr. J.K. Aigbogun who announced this in a statement said "the punishment which is of various types ranges from expulsion to rustication, suspension and even acquittal, depending on the severity of the offence and level of involvement."
According to the breakdown "fourteen of the students were expelled with eleven of them in their final year, two in year II, while one of them was a Pre-N.C.E. student.
As many as eighty-nine students were rusticated for two academic sessions and are to resume in the first semester of 2006/2007 academic session.
"Out of this number, thirty-one of them are in final year, thirty six in Year II and fifteen of them in year I.
"Three students, one in year I, and two of them in year II were rusticated for one academic year.
"However, nine of the students who were investigated for alleged involvement in examination malpractice were left off the hook as they were discharged and acquitted, while their scripts are to be marked and marks recorded", the statement added, warning that the exercise would be a continuous process to flush out all undesirable elements involved in examination malpractices and certificate forgery.
