MOSCOW, September 12 (Itar-Tass) - Nigerian court has been preparing documents for the release of Russian sailors expected soon, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Ara Abramyan, who is taking an active part in the campaign for the sailors' release, told Tass on Monday.
The procedure of issuance of documents for their release continues, he said. They might be freed on Monday, Abrmyan said, adding the release was made possible thanks to persistent efforts made by Russia.
The sailors were put on trial in Nigeria on Friday afternoon, a new lawyer was appointed, and the judicial authorities made a resolution to release the sailors, pending further investigation in court, Abamyan said.
A representative of the UNESCO Goodwill ambassador and a representative of the Russian embassy are attending the court hearings, Abramyan said.
