Aluko set to cause chaos in Ekiti - Gov's aide

Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Idowu Adelusi has raised an alarm over the alleged moves by the embattled deputy governor, Mr. Abiodun Aluko to cause mayhem in the state by means of sponsored protests in some towns and flash-points in the state.

The Governor Ayo Fayose aide said intelligence reaching the government indicated that Aluko had perfected plans to organize mass action in Ikole, Aramoko, Ilawe, Efon-Alaaye and round it off in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

He claimed that similar rally was organized in Ikere-Ekiti, Aluko's home town last Monday to protest the impeachment move against the deputy governor by the state House of Assembly, adding that the deputy governor sponsored the Ikere protest with N1 million.

He hinged his alarm on the fears expressed by members of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti State in a paid newspaper advert last week on the alleged plans by the deputy governor in conjunction with some members of the opposition to set ablaze government properties so as to create chaos and destabilize the state which, according to him, had started happening with the setting on fire of the office of Ado Local Government chairman, Mr. Taiye Fasubaa.

To actualize his plans, the governor's spokesman hinted that Aluko had been holding nocturnal meetings with the opposition on how to create anarchy and thereafter commence agitation for the declaration of a state of emergency in the state by the federal government.
Part of Aluko's game plan, Adelusi said, was to set the people of Ikere, his home town against the Fayose administration through claims that in the event of his impeachment, the deputy governor slot would slip away from the town.

Besides, he accused Aluko of leaking official secret documents to the opposition and, by extension, to the press, citing the multi-million Naira Poultry Project of the state government as an example.
Adelusi who declared that Aluko's actions did not represent the opinion of Ikere people, commended the Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adegboye Akayejo and the entire people of the town for openly expressing their unflinching support to the Fayose administration during the visit of the acting governor, Mr. Taiwo Olatubosun to Ikere last Tuesday.

The governor's spokesman was particular about the royal father who, he said, reeled out several benefits that had accrued to the town from the Fayose government including turning around of the State College of Education in Ikere; the newly constructed Ikere-Ise-Emure Road; Ikere-Igbara-Odo Road, the oil depot still under construction, the poultry project as well as the appointment of Ikere indigenes into top positions in government.

He lashed out at Aluko for engaging in blackmail against the governor to tilt public sympathy to his side particularly that the governor was after his life and the claim that he had been placed under house arrest and held hostage by security operatives posted to monitor his activities which he described as a ruse.
