A fake army General, who has defrauded many persons across the country, has been arrested in Calabar by the police.

Ibrahim Oborolowo, who went about with a fake name of General Abraham Maikudi was arrested by the men of Efut Anti-Crime Patrol team at Sunshine Hotel, Calabar.

The Divisional Police Officer for Efut, Mr. Francis Okpala, who disclosed this, told Daily Sun that the suspect was nabbed during routine checks and raids on brothels which sometimes serve as hideouts for criminals in the state capital.

According to the DPO, he received a report from his men that the brothel was a hide out for hoodlums, so he and his men decided to raid the place. In the process, the fake army General was arrested along with his aide de camp, driver and orderly.

On interrogation, the fake General, dressed in military uniform, was discovered to be carrying multiple identity cards and giving conflicting reports about his identity. He also told the police that he was a combatant attached to the Mogadishu Air Force Station, Kaduna. But when asked some simple military questions, he failed to answer. He was said to have threatened to phone a military personnel in Calabar to deal with the police for humiliating an officer.

According to the DPO, the two identity cards found on him traced him to number one Olu Castle road, Ajah in Lagos.One of the identity cards states: 'This card certifies that the personnel whose name, signature and passport appear on the card is an Army General of the Republic".
Interviewed, Ibrahim Oborolowo said he was in Calabar enroute Umuahia, but had to spend the night in a brothel because his wife, one Dobleme Maikudi, was not at home.

He claimed to be a native of Lagos Island. He said he schooled at the Command Secondary School, Ibadan, The Nigerian Military School, Zaria as well as a brief spell at the University of Lagos.
