Nine students arraigned for murder


Nine secondary schools girls suspected to belong to an outlawed sorority the Supreme Girls Black Brasserie in Rivers State have been arraigned in a Port Harcourt Magistrate Court for the murder of three other teenagers.

Nine secondary schools girls suspected to belong to an outlawed sorority the Supreme Girls Black Brasserie in Rivers State have been arraigned in a Port Harcourt Magistrate Court for the murder of three other teenagers.

The accused who are students of Government Girls Secondary School, Port Harcourt are standing criminal trial on a seven count charge for murder as contained in charge number PMC/1694c/2005. They were alleged to have killed one Clara aged 11 and two other girls at Nembe waterfront, Port Harcourt last May. Those standing trial are Tamunosiki Johnson (15), Oluchi John (14), Doubara Ipoga (14), Jennifer Ipoga (14), Gift Owuso (15), Belema Seleyefubara (14), Daibi Lugard (15), Ebimobere Tom (15), and Tamunufiri Ajibaidiaka (14).

The accused did not take plea. The court said the accused and other who were presently at large had conspired among themselves to commit felony through their participation in secret cult activities at the Government Girls Secondary School, Habour Road, Port Harcourt between 2002 and 2005. According to the court, the accused hence have committed an offence punishable under section 516A (a) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 volume 2 Laws of Rivers State 1999. At the Magistrate Court presided by Chief Magistrate, Leba Adookor, the students were also alleged to have participated in the activities of a secret cult group referred to as Supreme Girls Black Brasserie and hence have committed an offence punishable under section 1 (1) of the Secret Cult and Similar Activities (prohibition) Law number six of Rivers State 2004.
