A suspected assassin who was recently declared wanted by the police in Delta State for the murder of 85-year-old Pa Ukuewhere Apamu and Miss Mesimevwo Ukuwhrere at Effurun, Delta state, May 13, 2003 has been arrested by police detectives.
WARRI - A suspected assassin who was recently declared wanted by the police in Delta State for the murder of 85-year-old Pa Ukuewhere Apamu and Miss Mesimevwo Ukuwhrere at Effurun, Delta state, May 13, 2003 has been arrested by police detectives.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Udom Ekpoudom confirmed to Vanguard when contacted yesterday that the suspect was in police net and would soon be charged to court.
The suspect and two other persons were alleged to have burnt the deceased persons to death in addition to their property at NO 41 Effurun - Sapele Road, Effurun, Delta state on the aforementioned day.
Meanwhile, Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has warned Special Advisers and other aides to the state governor, Chief James Ibori, that any of them involved in criminal activities would not be provided immunity by the government.
Dr. Uduaghan gave the warning at a recent meeting with the aides asked them to be of good behaviour as the position of Chief Ibori was that any of his aides involved in criminal acts should face the music.
A Special Adviser, an Urhobo, has been on the run since he was declared wanted by the police but Ekpoudom said a reward awaits any person or persons that could give useful information leading to his arrest.
Another Special Adviser was recently arrested and charged to court by the police for assaulting the chairman of Sapele local government area, Chief Monday Igbuya at a social function in the state.
