MEN of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested the Chairman of Ika North East Local Government area of Delta State, Mr. Smart Buzugbe in connection with spendings in the council. Also picked along with him were the Council Treasurer, Head of Personnel Management (HPM) and Leader of the Legislative Arm of the council.

Also picked along with him were the Council Treasurer, Head of Personnel Management (HPM) and Leader of the Legislative Arm of the council.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that the EFCC officials who had been on the prowl in the state stormed the council headquarters at Owa-Oyibu and whisked them off to Abuja for further interrogation.
And in solidarity with the arrest, a group of councillors from the council staged a peaceful demonstration at the premises of the State House of Assembly, insisting that the state lawmakers should also exercise its over sight function to further investigate the alleged looting of the council by the council men already facing interrogation from the EFCC investigators.
The protesting councillors who came in buses and led by the Councillor representing Ward Six, Mr. Charles Okwuokenye on arrival at the Assembly premises displayed placards some of which read 'all we are saying bring them to justice", 'they have looted the treasurer, please House help us probe these thieves and bring them to book".
Speaking , the leader of the protesters, Mr. Okwuokenye who was received by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Jacob Iyamu decried the alleged looting, saying that the arrest by EFCC men has smeared the council as corrupt.
Responding, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Iyamu told them to put their protest formally in form of a petition to the House
