The controversial midfield star only picked his entry visa to Algeria in Abuja on Thursday and will now fly direct to Algeria by Friday.
The player was earlier expected to join the rest of the squad in Portugal but team officials said they had not got a word about his arrival.
Mikel will therefore have only one training session with the rest of the team in Algeria.
The Eagles squad, who have been training in Portugal since the beginning of this week, will leave Portugal on chartered flight by 09h00 local time.
Meanwhile, the special Belview flight to Algeria will take off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on Sunday
morning.
Fans are expected to pay 60,000 naira each to make the trip.
