The wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Justice Mary Odili, has received a cheque of Nl0 million being a pledge made to support the skills acquisition programme and the Grassroots Association by the Igolo I of Etche, High Chief Jerome Eke.
The wife of the Governor of Rivers State, Justice Mary Odili, has received a cheque of Nl0 million being a pledge made to support the skills acquisition programme and the Grassroots Association by the Igolo I of Etche, High Chief Jerome Eke.
Making the presentation, the Igolo I of Etche said, he was at Government House to redeem the pledge he made two weeks ago at the graduation ceremony of the people of Etche land.
He said, the donation was in connection with the various programmes embarked upon by the wife of the Governor, which he noted included, the emancipation and integration of grassroots women into the scheme of things, the skills acquisition programme and the campaign for peace.
In her response, the wife of the Governor, Justice Mary Odili, thanked the Igolo I of Etche for fulfilling his pledge.
She said, as a result of his kindness and thoughtfulness in redeeming the pledge, funds will not be a problem for the activities of the Adolescent Project, since she said the skills programmes are always following one after the other.
Mrs. Odili pointed out that, the peace and progress of Rivers people is guaranteed as a result of fulfilment of pledges which has provided funds for the programmes of TAP.
She said, she believes in the future public-spirited individuals would come to the aid of TAP to enable it carry out more projects.
On behalf of herself, associates in TAP, Grassroots Association and the people of Rivers State, she prayed God to bless the Igolo I of Etche.
In a related development, Justice Odili, thanked the Emohua Local Government Chairman, who was also in Government House to fulfill his pledge of N2 million to the Adolescent Project and to the Grassroots Association. Shortly after receiving the money, the wife of the Governor, said, the enthusiasm with which Rivers people embraced TAP's programme, it is now difficult to slow down the pace.
She said, the assistance from the Chairman was a welcome development, stressing that; support received from public-spirited individuals cannot be repaid.
She prayed God to replenish those who had supported TAP in various ways.
Earlier, the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Hon. Chukwuemeka Woke, who led a delegation of some members of his council and the executives of members of the Grassroots Association in his area had presented to the wife of the Governor a cash donation of the pledge he made during the skills acquisition graduation ceremony of his people at Emohua Local Government Area recently.
