Robbery suspects who recently went to Aba, Abia State, to purchase two short guns for operation in Lagos, have had their plans botched by detectives.

Robbery suspects who recently went to Aba, Abia State, to purchase two short guns for operation in Lagos, have had their plans botched by detectives.

One of the suspects, Gabriel Ogbodo, is being held at the police command Ikeja, as officer spread their dragnet in search of another suspect simply called Emeka, who escaped arrest.

The suspect, as findings further revealed, hired the services of a motorcyclist who was taking them to an undisclosed destination before they were stopped by the policemen in the PPL area of Ojo.

When they were stopped by the policemen, Emeka reportedly flung away the portfolio containing the two guns and other items and jumped off the motorcycle.

But Ogbodo was not so lucky as he was caught by the police.
He, however, told the police that the only link he had with Emeka was selling cocaine to him and sometimes, on credit.

He explained that on that fateful Sunday he was arrested by the police, he only went there to collect N10,000 worth of cocaine he bought the previous week.

"I sell cocaine to traders at the Alaba International market. I am not an armed robber. Emeka was owing me N10,000 and that was what I went to collect before the police arrested me," he said.
Besides Emeka, he said he had other customers at the Alaba International market who asked him to come that day for the money. But the police insisted he was only telling cock and bull stories.

"They are robbers. They just came back from Aba, where they went to acquire guns. Emeka escaped because the policemen were few," a police source told Daily Sun.
He said the police would intensify efforts to ensure that Emeka was arrested and brought to justice.
