Following ratification of the appointment of Prince Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo as next Alake of Egbaland by Ogun State government, his younger brother and co-contendant in the race, Prince Adeleke Adedoyin has sent a congratulatory message to the Oba-elect.
Following ratification of the appointment of Prince Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo as next Alake of Egbaland by Ogun State government, his younger brother and co-contendant in the race, Prince Adeleke Adedoyin has sent a congratulatory message to the Oba-elect.
Prince Gbadebo's appointment as the 10th Alake of Egbaland, was formally approved and ratified on Wednesday by Ogun State Executive Council during its last meeting.
Briefing the press after the meeting, Deputy Governor Salmot Badru said the decision for the ratification came after 21 days in which it received a letter intimating the council of hisnomination by the kingmakers.
In his first reaction to government's ratification, Adedoyin who slugged it out with his elder brother, said in an interview with journalists that he had taken the election and subsequent ratification in good faith.
He, therefore pledged his support for the growth of Egbaland in the years ahead.
saying he has nothing against the Alake-elect, expressing optimism that all will be well.
According to him, "I congratulate him, having emerged the winner and I wish Egbaland success and positive growth," stressing that he was interested in the co-existence of the ancient town.
He added that in spite of the election which he said was not in his favour, he was determined to effectively contribute positively to the development of Egbaland and environs.
During the election conducted by the 23 Egbaland Kingmakers, Prince Adedoyin got eight votes cast, while his elder brother, Prince Dotun Gbadebo polled 15 which made him winner and subsequently became the next Alake of Egbaland.
Meanwhile, the family of the Laarun ruling house which produced the new Alake is now set for a crucial meeting, this weekend to finalize a final burial programme for the head of Laarun Ruling House, Chief Anthony Labiran who died during the election process.
The 86 years-old man who died recently presided over several meetings held during the process the family was to produce candidate to occupy the exalted stool of the Alake of Egbaland after the demise of Oba Oyebade Lipede who died at the ripe age of 9o years last February 3rd, 2005.
