N23m theft rocks Nigerian Army... Board of Inquiry set up

Another scandal has blown open in the Nigerian Armed Forces with the disappearance of N23 million from the Nigerian Army Small Scale Drug Manufacturing Unit (NASDMU).

Another scandal has blown open in the Nigerian Armed Forces with the disappearance of N23 million from the Nigerian Army Small Scale Drug Manufacturing Unit (NASDMU).

Daily Sun learnt that the money developed wings from the coffers of the Army Pharmaceutical Company in Victoria Island, Lagos.

What is, however, baffling in the theft is how it was perpetrated despite the huge security mounted round the clock at the facility.

Following the disappearance of the money, the detention of all personnel on guard duty at the drug unit, as well as those at the neighbouring Army Public Relations Directorate, has been ordered.

A soldier told Daily Sun that in the recent past, "some small things have been missing, but now they have carried away N23 million, and the Managing Director is very mad about it."

M.D Yusuf said a board of enquiry has been constituted to investigate the theft. He declined to speak on the mandate given the panel and the number of persons on board.
