One of the robbers that attacked St. Augustine's Catholic Church on Monday, was yesterday arrested in Orile Iganmu area of Lagos by anti-robbery policemen that trailed them after the incident.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olubode Ojajuni told journalist in Ikeja yesterday, that the police was able to recover a Jeep out of two cars stolen from the church and assured that the other one would soon be recovered.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said the Police Investigation Department was working to ensure that churches in the state were secured.
According to him, "members of St. Augustine's Catholic Church gave the Police useful information about the hoodlums that stormed the Church on Monday. This indeed assisted us to quickly rise up to the challenge.

"We appeal that members of the public cooperate with the police by giving useful information that can assist security operatives to track down hoodlums.
"We urge the public to be patient with us. More of these hoodlums will be brought to book as soon as possible. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adewole Ajakaiye has again called on all Divisional Police Officers (DPO) to beef up security not only around churches but in the state to guarantee safety of lives and property," Ojajuni said.

Meanwhile, three pipeline vandals and oil bunkerers were arrested at Owutu area of Lagos by a team of anti-vandalisation policemen. Two vehicles loaded with about 800 jerry cans of petroleum products were impounded in the process.
The suspects including Olu Faloruti, Yemi Irewunmi and John Emmanuel, according to the police, were later identified as residents of Ikorodu, Adegbeyi Alapere-Ketu and Iyana Ipaja areas of Lagos respectively.The hoodlums reportedly took to their heels and abandoned one Honda Accord Car with Registration No: FH 547 KJA on sighting the team of anti-vandalisation policemen who were on their trail following a tip-off.
