Master Adeiza Ohani of Community Secondary School, Adavi -Eba, Kogi state has clinched the first position and the star prize of one Desktop computer and printer worth N120, 000.00 for his school and a cash gift of N25,000 for himself in the 2005 Mike Okonkwo Essay Competition.

The second best position goes to Uzoma Benson of Dority International Secondary School, Aba, Abia State and he will be going home with a desktop computer worth N60, 000.00 for the school and cash prize of N20,000.00 for himself and the third place position was clinched by Obinna Nwali of Government Secondary School, Garki, Abuja and he goes home with books worth of N20,000.00 for his school and the student will be given cash prize of N15,000.00

According to Mrs. Oluwayomi Uteh, personal assistant to the bishop, the prizes will be presented to the winners at the 6th Mike Okonkwo Annual Lecture on the September 1, 2005 at the Muson Centre. The topic of the Mike Okonkwo Annual Lecture is 'Building Leaders for Tomorrow: A Collective Responsibility"
For this year's competition, a total of 524 entries were received from students from different schools across the nation.

The Mike Okonkwo Essay Competition was introduced to positively impact the educational sector and create an environment to motivate the youths towards hard work thereby improving the standards of education in the country.
