ADO-EKITI - GOVERNOR Ayo Fayose, reacted yesterday to last Sunday's attempt by some gunmen to set his Ibadan house ablaze, declaring that those after his life would never succeed as his life is in the hands of God.
Fayose who described the incident as "purely political", asked the acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero to do everything possible to get to the root of the matter, stressing that there must be no sacred cow.
He said: "My detractors who are looking for victory outside the ballot paper and who are now looking for my life should back down in the interest of Nigeria and Ekiti State in particular and the fact that carrying guns and making attempt on my life can never succeed.
"I am unperturbed by the desperation of the opposition because my mission to liberate the good people of Ekiti from their former tormentors and oppressors is a divine calling. ""I know, for sure, that these evil-minded people would never succeed in their nefarious activities, as no weapon fashioned against me shall prosper because in God I put my trust. ""Since they knew that they could not have their way because of the support that I have in the state, they are now trailing me to a place where they feel that the security might not be as tight as expected. ""So I am now calling on the Inspector-General of Police to do everything possible to get to the root of the matter and there must be no sacred cow.
Everybody traced or linked to the matter must be brought to book and exposed"", the governor stated. Fayose who assured people that he was hale and hearty and that he was not deterred by his detractors'' sinister motives, however warned that the new trend, if not checked, was capable of endangering the nation''s nascent democracy.
