Doom seems to have descended on a holy place at the FESTAC Town Lagos as devilish robbers at the early hours of Thursday at about 1.30 am unleashed bizarre bloodbath on the provincial headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Province 3, 203 Road, and left the demise of four persons at their wake.
Worst of all, the sacrilegious robbery claimed the lives of three persons suspected to be pastors or very senior officials of the Church, including the security guard at the Church, identified as Sunday Awoyeye.
The agents of the devil were found to have made away with over N10m in various currencies, including N40,000. The rest of the money were $22,514, £1,011 and £125.
Suspecting foul play in the whole incident believed to have been occasioned by the presence of the money in diverse denominations, the police in FESTAC which was alerted of the incident five hours later has apprehended four persons, said to be members of the church.
The arrest of the four was as a result of the suspicion of the police that inside sources must have brought the existence of the huge sum of money in the church to the attention of the robbers said to be six in number.
At the time of visit to the Police at FESTAC, inside sources informed that the arrest of the four persons was informed by the position of the police that there are so many mysteries surrounding the incident that could only be unraveled by insiders, especially in connection with the delayed reporting of an incident of such magnitude to police .
The police said it has commenced detailed investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending the direct and indirect perpetrators of the act through the assistance of the arrested suspects
