Lyn boss, Morgan Anderson told Sports Vanguard exclusively Tuesday that Flying Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has contacted him that he would join the Norwegian side tomorrow. And he is expected to play in this weekend's league tie with Rosenborg.
The Nigerian player, was until FIFA's ruling that he should return to Lyn, the subject of a bitter transfer deal involving three clubs, comprising Manchester United and Chelsea. After FIFA's verdict was made public, Lyn said they expected Obi back in their fold last Friday but the player could not make it due to travel delays, he faced after the friendly match between the Super Eagles and Libya in Tripoli.
After several failed attempts to communicate with his prized jewel to know about his whereabouts, Anderson informed Sports Vanguard over the telephone line yesterday, that the long wait for Obi would end tomorrow and that a rousing reception awaits the gifted player.
"I feel very happy and on top of the world right now because I just finished speaking with Mikel some minutes ago and he revealed that he would depart Lagos on Wednesday (Today) and arrive Oslo next morning to resume duty with Lyn.
"Mikel said he was happy to be coming back to join us and we are also happy to receive him and you can be sure that we are planning a rousing reception for Mikel, who is one of the most talented players that we have in our squad", added an excited Anderson, who noted that Mikel's place in the team was very central to the squad's title hunt.
"We want to win the league and for us to achieve that aim, we need all our outstanding players in the team. We might play Mikel against Rosenborg this weekend. His addition would strengthen our bid to win the title. I just broke the news to the other players and they are all happy that Mikel is coming back to strengthen the squad", he said.
