LAGOS, August 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Samson Siasia, former coach of the Nigerian under-20 national team, is considering the offer to handle the junior squad of Thailand, local press reported Tuesday.
"Yes, I have been in talks in respect to taking up an offer in Thailand ... I am interested in the job," Siasia was quoted as saying, despite his recent appointment as an assistant coach with the Nigerian national team.
Siasia, who guided Nigeria's Flying Eagles to a second-place finish of the FIFA World Youth in Holland last month, was being wooed with a two-year contract of 290 million naira (about 2.18 million US dollars).
The coach said that he sacrificed a lot and did not make any money while taking charge of the Flying Eagles. "If now is the time for me to make some money for myself, so be it."
Siasia, however, said he wanted to start in Thailand after the African Nations Cup in Egypt from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10, 2006 as he was not going to dump the Nigerian national team. Enditem
