The deputy chairman of Akuku Toru local government area of Rivers State, Hon. Alabo George Orugbani has thanked God for sparing his life after a ghastly motor acceded along Degema/Emohua road on his way to Port Harcourt.

In a thanksgiving service held at Mount Zion Light Full Gospel Church, Inc., Hon. Orugbani thanked God for the safety of his life and that of his younger brother who was with him in the official car, which mechanics have confirmed damaged beyond repairs. Testifying at the church, he said, that on that fateful day, after observing his morning devotion, he took-off to Port Harcourt on his official assignment without any premonition of accident. On getting to Degema/Emohua road, what happened afterwards to him was quite unaccountable, as he can only recalled that the car somersaulted up to four times and after all, he and his brother came out from the battered car without any scratch.

Earlier in his sermon, Apostle Edet Offiong, officiating Minister of the church in Abonnema spoke on the need for Christians to always give thanks to God and have faith in God.

He stressed that man lives by the grace of God and was the only source of man greatness and success.

The clergyman urged man to reconcile and surrender to God and work according to his ordinance.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after a warm reception at the Deputy Chairman residence in Abonnema, the wife of the chairman, Mrs. Orugbani also gave thanks to God for all that had happened and expressed unalloyed vow to continue to serve God as she puts it, "God is the giver and protector of mankind."
