The Chairman of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Bennett Kalio has charged the newly appointed members of the Credential Committee for the forth-coming Tri-annual Delegates Conference of the State Council of NUJ to be guided by the Union's Constitution in the discharge of their duties.

Mr. Kalio was speaking on Monday in Port Harcourt while swearing in members of the Committee at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

The Chairman pointed out the sensitive and significant nature the assignment demands from them and advised them to apply a good sense of judgment, adding that their appointment was based on the confidence the Council reposed in them.

Mr. Kalio reminded them that they are not accountable to anybody, apart from the constitution and the Union, adding that they should only liaise with the Secretariat when the need arises.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Mrs. Juliet Njiowhor thanked the Council for giving them the opportunity to serve.

She noted that the task before them was enormous but promised that they would discharge the job without any fear or favour.
