The wife of the chairman of Asari-Toru local government area (ASALGA) of the state, Mrs. Soye Aroloyeteim Brown has urged the youths of the area to always adopt the peace option in approaching issues. Mrs. Brown made this appeal when she hosted some youths of the area in her residence as part of the international youths day celebration which took place last Friday, August 12, 2005.
Soye Brown described the day as a proper dedication to celebrate youthfulness in the world and expressed profound happiness for the fortune of hosting the youths of Asari-Toru. She praised the peaceful disposition of the youths and urged them to keep it up.
The chairperson pointed out that youths are the epitome of the human wealth of every nation and charged them to be good ambassadors of ASALGA. She praised the mature way the youths of the area have come to adopt dialogue in addressing issues and urged them to shun cultism, violence, drug, corruption, crime and prostitution. She pointed out that it was appropriate that this year's theme of celebration is centred on the social ills, noting that the youths are most culpable.
Mrs. Brown said: "The world youths day celebration is commendable and shows how important you are to the situation of the world. You are the faces of tomorrow and I advise you to help build a future where peace and love will reign supreme within and among you." She echoed the call of Hon. Justice Mary Odili's demand to train their children in responsible manner as the family is the basis of every child.
Similarly, the Chief of Staff (COS) of the council, Mr. Awongo Ikalama has joined his voice to the cry against indecent dressing among youths, especially the females, saying their choice of half-nude attires is alien and disgraceful to the true culture of the African.
