At the Alantic Hall of Presidential Hotels, the musical artistes namely lady 1B, Mozy-B who produced the track -"Landlord travel and see" and comedians from Rhythm 93.7 trailed the audience.
The occasion was a send-forth party in honour of the former Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department, Mrs. Hilda Ibifuro Harrison who has been redeployed to Calabar was described by many as a woman of different parts.
In her speech, the wife of the state governor, Justice Mary Odili represented by Mrs. Sotonye Soberekn lauded Mrs. Harrison for assisting the state for her past 14 years in crime detection and described her as one who had exhibited qualities of a good leader within the police command.
Mrs. Harrison described as a beautiful and intelligent police officer, she said, had positively touched the lives of others and prayed that God would give her the needed courage and strength to excel in her new place of redeployment.
Justice Odili also commended Mrs. Christy Benibo (rtd) for her 35 years of meritorious service and expressed delight for the role women have played in the police force.
Justice Odili urged women police officers not to relent in their services and described Rivers State as the best secured one throughout the federation.
Also speaking, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dr. (Mrs.) A. Abonwa expressed dismay over the attitude of the public towards the police force but noted that the police had tried in the security of lives and property of the nation.
On behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, she pledged the preparedness of the command to intensify its efforts towards the security of the citizenry.
In his speech, Mr. Kings Omire who has taken over from Mrs. Harrision poured encomiums on his predecessor for creating an enviable legacy within the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Port Harcourt.
Mr. Omire who is also a lawyer said: "If we must succeed in our present careers, we must endeavour to commit all to God" and urged others to emulate the exemplary posture of Mrs. Harrison.
Also speaking, the state Director of Public Prosecutions, (DPP), Mr. Rufus Godwins traced the historical role of the women in the force and commended those who through dint of hard work had climbed to admirable heights.
Responding, Mrs. Harrison full of praises thanked women police officers for the honour done her and Justice Odili for being a source of succour to orphans and widows in the state.
Mrs. Harrison urged the police officers to maintain discipline and commitment as necessary hallmarks for effective policing of the state.
Mrs. Rose Biobaragha, a Deputy Superintendent of Police and musical artiste displayed exceptional skill in adding value to the occasion with her rib-breaking funs.
