FOUR suspects arrested last week in connection with assassination plot on the life of prominent politician in Oyo State Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu may be paraded by the police tomorrow in Abuja.

FOUR suspects arrested last week in connection with assassination plot on the life of prominent politician in Oyo State Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu may be paraded by the police tomorrow in Abuja.

The suspects were rounded up in Ibadan last Friday and whisked to the Force CID Abuja.

Alhaji Adedibu was returning home from an Abuja trip last Thursday when some unidentified gunmen reportedly rained bullets on his convoy along old Ife road in Ibadan during which one of his political aides, Mr.Taofeek Daropale lost his life in the process.

The investigating police team, Sunday Champion gathered, were deployed to the Oyo State capital by the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, to unravel the circumstances behind the attack by unknown gunmen on the convoy of Alhaji Adedibu.

According to police sources, the unnamed suspects were arrested in Ibadan on Thursday shortly after the incident and whisked to Abuja Friday afternoon "while more suspects would still be picked up for interrogation."

It was gathered that one of the weapons allegedly used during the attack, an unlicensed double barrel gun, had been recovered and handed over to the police.

Furthermore, our correspondent gathered, the police investigating team also on Friday interrogated the Chairman of the state chapter of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers, Alhaji Abdul Wasiu Abubakar, alias Tawa and some members of the union while the outcome of the interrogation was not yet made public.
