THE unending crisis within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been laid squarely on the doorstep of President Olusegun Obasanjo and the National chairman of the party Dr. Ahmadu Ali.

Deputy Senate president in the second republic Chief John Wash Pam in an interview with Sunday Champion said the crisis in the party persists because the president and the national chairman of the party only listen to the views of subservient party members.

He specifically accused the president of intolerance, especially from those who have contrary views from his own.

Mr. Wash Pam, almost in tears while recounting the current situation of the party (which he is a member) said there is no "president's effort to mend fences and put things right in the party", especially in Anambra and Plateau states. His views. "They are destroying the party".

He said the president has pocketed the party machinery but is not bold to admit that "its inconsistencies is causing havoc to the party. What is happening in PDP is unfortunate".

Maintaining that the president was intolerant of opposing views, Wash Pam, who is currently chairman of the recently formed Northern Union said: "If you look at the recent ministerial and board appointments, from Plateau State, they are only those who supported the state of emergency in Plateau State. Those of us who didn't are marginalised and victimised because we are considered as saboteurs".

He said his personal relationship with President Obasanjo was nothing to cheer about because of his stand during the imposition of state of emergency. Wash Pam hails from Plateau State. His words:

"I have tried to have access to Mr. President to no avail", He said it was sad that despite his experience and positions held in the country, his views were not sought or advice taken on matters that could have helped the party resolve its crisis.

He blamed the party's national chairman of wanting to go it alone on critical matters affecting the party. Said Wash Pam. "Senator Ali was my colleague in the second republic but he has never consulted people like me on how to run the party".
