Establish projects in Asari-Toru, Brown advises NDDC

The chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. Aroloyeteim Brown has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to establish projects in the area.

The chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area in Rivers State, Hon. Aroloyeteim Brown has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to establish projects in the area.

Hon. Brown made the call while fielding questions from journalists soon after a facility tour at Buguma, headquarters of the council.

He explained that such developmental projects when embarked upon would empower the youths and complement the efforts of government, saying that he has appealed to the management of NDDC on several occasions to make it presence felt.
The chairman pointed out that now is a period of stock taking and preaching peace since the community had lost so much during the crisis period, adding that the military had recovered many rifles from youths, and now peace reigns in the area.

He said that the absence of security threats have attracted people to the area but hinted that they are schooled on the new rules of behaviour, adding that the military presence also serves as deterrent to those with sinister motives.
The council boss explained that empowerment of youths was not the exclusive preserve of government, adding that it accounts for the setting up of certain developmental outfits like NDDC to assist her, just as he implored them to consider the repairs of projects there.

Hon. Brown stated that peace projects are the hallmarks of his administration and thanked the state governor for his commitment to the peace project especially the role he played in restoring normalcy in the area.

As part of his revenue drive, Hon. Brown said markets and lock up shops would be built while some indigent students would be awarded scholarships to boost education and reminded companies operating in the area to pay up their revenue as at when due.
