A member of the Board of Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, Disciple Kingsley K. Gbeke, a former Supervisor for Education in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area (PHALGA), has pledged higher service in the discharge of his duties to help return education to its deserved glory in national life.

Hon. Gbeke came out with this while interacting with newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa on his return from Abuja after the swearing-in ceremony which took place on 1st August at the premises of Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC).

Going by the charge handed to the members of the various governing councils by the Minister of Education, Mrs. Chinwe Nora Obaji at their inauguration, the new member from Rivers State, who is also president of Rebisi Consultative Forum, vowed to bring his experience as a Former Executive Secretary of PHALGA Education Authority and lecturer at the Rivers State College of Education to bear positively on his national assignment.

He also enjoined youths of the state to follow the footsteps of diligent service laid by both Governor Peter Odili and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Chief (Hon.) Austin Adele Opara, the duo that facilitated his appointment, which, he noted would serve as a vital platform for exposure at the national level.

In appreciation of the confidence reposed on him, Hon. Gbeke assured that he would not disappoint the youths of Rivers State in his duties, adding that jointly with other members of the Governing council of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, he would work against such maladies as cultism, examination malpractices, prostitution in schools and drug addiction.

The COE lecturer also stated how he hopes to walk in the ways of the Rivers State Governor, who clocks 57 year on Monday, August 15, 2005, wishing him a lot of goodwill since he (governor) has brought so much upliftment to both the state and the country in different spheres, such as agriculture, transport and power generation. Gbeke also expressed appreciation to the chairman of PHALGA, Chief (Hon.) Azubuike Nmerukini for pushing his nomination which was finally backed by the state governor and called for support for the present administration.
