The chairman of Etche local government area, Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi has enjoined the people of Okoroagu community to bury the hatchet and live as members of one family.

The chairman of Etche local government area, Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi has enjoined the people of Okoroagu community to bury the hatchet and live as members of one family.

The chairman who gave the advice during a peace and reconciliatory meeting with chiefs, opinion leaders and youth bodies of the community expressed the need for the people to dissipate their energies towards a common goal so as to usher in the desired development into the community.

Hon. Nwuzi pointed out that if the situation was allowed to continue, could result to endless hostility and mar the future of the community.

He described the ugly situation as most unfortunate, regretting that the unguarded utterances of some individuals had resulted to the destruction of lives and property and appealed to the victims to remain clam, as efforts would be made to address their predicament.

The chairman urged the people to use the event to reflect on their misplaced values and retrace their steps towards repentance and appealed to the leaders to recall those who had fled return to the community.

Also speaking, the chief of Umuchogu community, Chief C. N. Nweke lauded the chairman for his visit and noted that dialogue and consensus are most vital keys to differences or disputes.

He appealed to the local government chairman to assist the community to appease the gods of the laud.

In his vote of thanks, the youth leader of the community, Mr. Suleman Nwaobasi thanked the chairman for the concern shown and appealed that no stone should be left unturned to bring an enduring peace to the community.
