2007: Masari leaves future in God's hands

SPEAKER of House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Masari said yesterday he has left his gubernatorial ambition in Katsina State to the "will of God".

SPEAKER of House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Masari said yesterday he has left his gubernatorial ambition in Katsina State to the "will of God".

Receiving a delegation from his Malumfashi/Kafur constituency, who visited him in Abuja, Masari said it was only God that would determine his fate in 2007.

"All what I need from you is prayer to enable me to take the right decision.

"My kind of politics is simple, as I always rely on God to choose for me the best", he said, amidst shouts by the delegation calling on him to declare his intention for 2007 gubernatorial election in Katsina.

He said he was not in politics to amass wealth, but to leave behind, legacies that would make future generations to remember him.

Describing his constituency as "political orphanage", Masari called on the people to concentrate more in developing the area.

Earlier, leader of the delegation and District Head of Kafur, Alhaji Rabe Abdulkadir had said the visit was to convey resolution of the constituency for Masari to declare his interest in the governorship race.

The resolution, he said, was informed by Masari's contributions in the development of the area.

On the delegation were traditional rulers, chairmen of Malumfashi and Kafur local governments, politicians and religious leaders.
