BARELY a week after Senator Joshua Adagba (Benue North-East) was laid to rest, thieves have invaded his village, Jato-Duala in Giver local government area of Benue State, vandalising his grave.

BARELY a week after Senator Joshua Adagba (Benue North-East) was laid to rest, thieves have invaded his village, Jato-Duala in Giver local government area of Benue State, vandalising his grave.

Senator Adagba who died last month in Abuja after a brief illness was buried last week.

However, eight days after the burial, thieves were said to have gone to the grave to remove the gold ornaments used to decorate the casket.

It was gathered that the plan to dig up Senator Adagba's casket was hatched on the day of his burial when the planners of the act were alleged to have involved an indigene of Jato-Duala who allegedly agreed to assist them.

However, unknown to the thieves, the indigene whose name was not disclosed, allegedly informed the community who kept vigil near the grave site.

Nemesis caught up with the thieves on Monday night when villagers who had been keeping an eye on the grave allegedly pounced on them in the process of digging up the casket. While one of them was said to have been arrested and handed over to the police, others escaped.

When contacted on phone, a police officer in the office of the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who demanded anonymity, told Daily Champion that the command had not yet received any report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the local government
