As 2007 draws close, it is almost certain that Timi Alaibe, a top shot at the Niger Delta Development Commission might be the anointed one.

Telegraph sources in Bayelsa confirm that from all indications, Alaibe who stepped aside in 2003 may have succeeded in building an awesome political machinery.

Of all the candidates that are likely to bid for Alamieyeseigha's job in 2007, none has the kind of reach Alaibe has outside Bayelsa State.

At home, because of the use he has made of his NDDC posting Alaibe is a force and a household name.
Among many young Bayelsans, Alaibe is believed to be the one who would help keep unemployment and poverty at bay.

Besides, they argue, he really appreciates the plight of the under privileged.
His popularity notwithstanding, Alaibe has serious opponents.

They allege he is a plant and insist he has had a fair share of what is due Bayelsa in terms of patronage.
Speculations are rife that Alamieyeseigha and Alaibe may have reached an understanding in 2003.

That understanding, those who claim to have a faint knowledge of it say, recognizes Alaibe's right to go for it in 2007.
They say Alamieyeseigha who tried to persuade all comers in 2003 to abandon their aspirations may have really conceded to Alaibe.

Alaibe was the only candidate that dared to want to enter Yenagoa to campaign.
Alamieyeseigha had urged all those desiring to contest against him to come to Yenagoa.

Alaibe did but there was no reported face-off and in the end, Alaibe's political godfathers, whoever they were advised him to back-off and aspire in 2007.
