Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, District 9140, has inducted a new president for the 2005/2006 rotary year in Port Harcourt.
Rotary Club of Port Harcourt, District 9140, has inducted a new president for the 2005/2006 rotary year in Port Harcourt.
He is Francis Murray-Bruce, a name that calls to mind the Murray-Bruce fame of Silver Bird Productions and Media outfits (Rhythm Radio and Silver Bird Television).
In the induction witnessed by former military head of state and PTF boss, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.), Bayelsa state governor, Diepriye Alamieyeseigha and Sir Gabriel Toby, Rivers State Deputy-Governor, amongst others, Francis Murray-Bruce stated that his focus was to achieve the construction of a befitting rotary centre at Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout, Port Harcourt, a project estimated to cost about N60 million.
Speaking at the occasion, Gen. Buhari (Rtd.) praised Francis Murray-Bruce for dedicating his youthful years to the upliftment of mankind, and charged rotary to evolve more of human-oriented services in line with its theme for the year, "service above self."
The Governor of Bayelsa sate, the home state of the Murray-Bruce, Chief Diepriye S.P. Alamieyeseigha, expressed great optimism that the 2005/2006 rotary year, with Francis Murray-Bruce as president, will witness huge transformation. The Deputy-Governor of Rivers State, Sir Gabriel T.G. Toby, in his address, stressed the need for the people to join hands with government to build a safe society.
Rotary, an international organization is easily noted for its famous "four-way test of human relationship", and many humanitarian gestures.
