The acting Rector of Ronik Polytechnic Ejigbo, Lagos, Pastor, Olu Adeniji, has advised students of the polytechnic to be dedicated to their studies, saying that the school has been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to run as full polytechnic.

The acting rector, who was speaking at the National Association of Business Studies Students week lecture, tagged 'Challenges of Leadership in Nigeria', explained that courses like accountancy, business studies and computer science are being offered by the institution.

He explained that education is expected to correct the ills of the society, reiterating that in a society where such correction can not work, is referred to as an uneducated society.

He urge the students to be dedicated to their studies, stressing that the academic calendar of private polytechnic are not always interrupted because there is nothing like cultism, examination malpractice's, and student unionism.
He said that private polytechnics excel much better than other polytechnics because of their dedication to academic studies.

"Those who started about two years ago are already graduating. When you come here, you are sure of graduating within that speculated time of two years, but it is not so in public polytechnics. People stay in the public polytechnic is not optimistic".

One of the guest lecturers at the lecture, Mr. Bamidele Aturu, frowned at the type of leaders in Nigeria, explaining that apart from Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello, most of 'our leaders came into power through one fraudulent act or the other", saying that they can not command respect because of their dubious characters, wondering why 'Nigerians are glorifying thieves".

He explained that the nation needs negotiative leaders that can envisage the future and plan ahead of time.
He further explained that Nigeria needs leaders that are empathic, purposeful and time conscious, independent, knowledgeable and morally upright.
