IMMEDIATE past National Chairman of the ruling Popples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Audu Ogbeh yesterday accused some members of masterminding the recent failed attempt on his life.

He said he had no plans to leave the country despite the threat to his life.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on the attack Ogbeh said: " I have heard rumours that some people in the system want me arrested. May be this is a private arrangement. I have no names but it's from the party... I cannot go and leave abroad. I don't even have a house there, so what am I going to do outside this country? Or will I start going to look for work? This is my country and nothing can move me out."

Ogbeh said he was yet to establish contact with President Olusegun Obasanjo "but I will try to see him when he returns from his official trip to Kaduna." He said he had contacted Vice-President Atiku Abubakar on the issue.

According to him he was in his home state, Benue to attend the burial of late Senator Joshua Adagba, when at 7 p.m he got a call from his Abuja residence about some strange men, claiming to be police officers and were looking for him that they had orders to arrest him. The men came in two unmarked cars while the drivers he said remained in the vehicles.

At 11 p.m same day, Ogbeh said he received another call that the same group of men had called again. worried over the development therefore, he began to make efforts to contact the President, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mr. Sunday Ehindero and other top security chiefs until he got the Vice-President who later told him the IGP had confirmed the men were not from the police headquarters.

Ogbeh confirmed he had petitioned the IGP but he had not heard anything from the police authorities. "I know the police are under pressure but whatever they do I will appreciate," he stated.
