The Chairman of Bonny local government council, Hon. Warisenibo Rodaford O. LongJohn has urged courts in the area to always deliver judgement without favour in handling cases brought before them.
The Chairman of Bonny local government council, Hon. Warisenibo Rodaford O. LongJohn has urged courts in the area to always deliver judgement without favour in handling cases brought before them.
The council boss gave the advice during the courtesy call on him by the newly appointed customary court judges in his office Bonny.
Hon. LongJohn charged the judges to live up to expectation in their assignment. He thanked them of their visit and pray for effective co-operation within the judiciary and the local government so as to bring the needed relationship.
The council chairman emphasized the need to establish customary courts in the rural areas. He charged the judges to always focus on issues affecting their office.
Hon. LongJohn, however, promised to work in conjunction with the officers, assuring that his council was ready to work with the judiciary to ensure effective implementation of law and custom in the area. He promised that his office was open to those who have moral advice from the customary court.
Hon. Rodaford LongJohn had earlier promised to look into the request by the judges, saying that their demands would be placed before his supervisors for implementation.
Also speaking, the chairman of the team, Hon. Wilson E. S. Jumbo thanked the council boss for the audience given to them, explaining that their visit was to intimate the council chairman of the formal sitting of the customary court in Bonny. He appealed to the council boss for co-operation.
Mr. Jumbo, however, solicited for assistance so as to motivate the judges perform effectively. He also appealed to the council boss to make provision for the judges' offices and chambers.
The Bonny customary court is headed by Warisenibo Wilson E.S. Jumbo. Other members are Hon. Joseph Ibani Sodienye and Hon. Kara Tolofari.
