Restore Imo PDP exco, Ezerioha tells Ali

IMO State Liaison Officer in Abuja, Mr. Chika Ezerioha, has called on the national chairman of PDP, Chief Ahmadu Ali, to reverse his order dissolving the state chapter of the party.

IMO State Liaison Officer in Abuja, Mr. Chika Ezerioha, has called on the national chairman of PDP, Chief Ahmadu Ali, to reverse his order dissolving the state chapter of the party.

He told Vanguard that the people of Imo were embarrassed and felt betrayed by the sack of the leadership of the party in the state.

"We appeal to our national chairman (Ali) to use his seasoned experience and stand boldly and deal with the agents of disunity, who misinform him about events in our state," he said.

Ali had said on Tuesday, during a visit by a faction of Imo PDP led by Senator Ifeanyi Ararume and former transport minister, Kema Chikwe, that the sack of the state's leadership was irrevocable.

Ezerioha, however, told Vanguard that the decision of the NWC to clamp down on the state executive committee was a rape on the reputation of Imo as a peaceful state.

"The people of Imo State feel completely betrayed, embarrassed and sad, because the NWC action came on the eve of a massive reconciliation rally held in Owerri by Gov. Achike Udenwa," he said.

He contended that neither the report of the Chief Olabode George's committee that probed the frictions in Imo PDP nor the NWC decision to sack the state executive committee was conveyed to Udenwa.

He regretted the alleged recognition of a few money bags as representatives of Imo people by the PDP national leadership, in spite of the loyalty of the members in the state.

The Liaison Officer also cautioned against transforming Imo into the scenario that rocked Anambra, which led to the expulsion of Governor Chris Ngige and his estranged god-father, Chief Chris Ubah.

"When the grounds become clearer I know the national chairman of our party will see the truth. They want to replicate Anambra in Imo and we will not allow that," he said.

He defended the existence of a pressure group known as "Redemption 98", saying it was launched as part of mobilisation of support for Udenwa's vision to redeem the people.

"Contrary to speculation by the Abuja politicians from Imo state that Redemption 98 was being used to harass people, I can tell you the body is for election purpose.

"It is a group of Imo people, who believe in the vision of Chief Achike Udenwa to restore peace and enhance the development of the state," he noted.
