An Abuja-based businessman, Alhaji Anwal Ahmed Munga who recently petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as an aggrieved shareholder of Albarka Air Plc yesterday disclosed that he was lured by the political opponents of the airline's chairman, Gen. Buba Marwa to take the action in order to blackamail him.
An Abuja-based businessman, Alhaji Anwal Ahmed Munga who recently petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as an aggrieved shareholder of Albarka Air Plc yesterday disclosed that he was lured by the political opponents of the airline's chairman, Gen. Buba Marwa to take the action in order to blackamail him.
Alhaji Munga who appeared disturbed and remorseful at a press briefing in Abuja yesterday said some highly placed individuals motivated him to address the media last month during which he accused Marwa and Albarka Air Plc mismanaging the shares of the airline's shareholders.
He, however, said he has to return to the media few weeks after his press briefing to recount on the petition sent to EFCC and his claim as a shareholder to liberate his conscience and avoid the pain of being invited by the EFCC to come and defend an allegation he didn't author.
According to him, "you could remember, that on the 16th day of July 2005, I made a press statement to the effect that I was a shareholder in Albarka Air Plc and that there was mismanagement in the airline, occasioning loss to shareholders. I was hired into making that statement by some powerful political enemies of the general."
"I later discovered that I was not protecting any shareholder of Albarka Air but was being used as instrument of blackmail and political mischief. I have been tormented by my conscience and in order to free my conscience sought out to see and apologized to the chairman of Albarka air Plc, Dr. Buba Marwa."
